We’re a week away from the Barbie/Oppenheimer storm that will be raging into theaters. Let’s all take a deep breath and appreciate the fact that Tom Cruise is still trying to, quite literally, kill himself on-screen for cinema.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ is now in theaters and it has quite a few action set-pieces that made my jaw drop. Check your brain at the door and just be in awe at what director Christopher McQuarrie has offered us here.
I gather many of our readers will be catching this film in theaters, or already caught it during last night’s previews — what are your thoughts? Where does it rank in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ pantheon?
I reviewed it last week. I’d say it’s just a cut below ‘Fallout,’ the 163 minute runtime is a tad bloated, but, holy hell, that entire 45-minute train sequence is some kind of masterful display of thrills on its own. The critics seem to agree: 81 on Metacritic and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
