My heart sank this morning when I opened my inbox and noticed a message that described an “impending” release date change for Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things.”
The film is supposed to be theatrically launched, via Searchlight, on September 8th but my source is telling me that this date will most likely be moved right after its Venice Film Festival premiere.
I now have even more confidence in this intel because, lo and behold, Bloomberg reported this late afternoon about this very potential delay for Lanthimos’ film.
Do you blame Searchlight? The cast for “Poor Things” is too big and starry for the film to be released without any marketing — you have the likes of Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Margaret Qualley, Christopher Abbott, Ramy Youssef and Jerrod Carmichael ready to participate in interviews, whenever this strike ends.
