Production on “Back in Action,” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, took place in late February and finished in late April. In mid-April, Foxx was hospitalized for an unknown medical emergency. This led to Director Seth Gordon using body doubles in Foxx’s place. Has the film actually been completed? I don’t know.
This was set to be a comeback vehicle for Diaz, who came out of her ten year retirement for this one. She hadn’t made a film since the 2013 production of “Sex Tape.”
If we are led to believe The Daily Mail, Diaz has not spoken to her longtime friend and co-star Foxx since his mysterious hospitalization in April. She supposedly has no idea what will happen to “Back in Action,” which is being produced by Netflix.
Actual filming for “Back in Action” was completed, but a source added that there have been “major setbacks in post production.” Foxx was also an executive producer on the film.
The on-set turmoil on “Back in Action” wasn’t just about Foxx’s medical emergency. Supposedly, a lot of the crew got fired, including an executive producer, two directors and Foxx’s own driver.
There were also reports of Foxx and Diaz not getting along on the set, with videos and images of their arguments leaking online. Even worse, early into the shoot, production was paused due to an unexploded WWII-era bomb being discovered on the film's set in London.
So, where is Jamie Foxx? He has a bunch of movies coming out this year: “God is a Bullet,” “They Cloned Tyrone,” “The Burial,” “Signal Hill,” among others. It sounds like he’s not in shape to promote them.
Foxx's health scare has been the source of much speculation ever since his daughter, Corrine Foxx, announced his “medical emergency” on April 12.
Corinne wrote, “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.”
No further details on his condition have been given, it’s all been pure speculation. Foxx’s friend, Mike Tyson, of all people, stated on his podcast that he had a stroke.
The family has been recently seen numerous times visiting a medical facility in Chicago, which specializes in treatment for adults with “severe complex conditions.”
