Here’s a scoop from Deadline.
Nicholas Hoult, David Cronenswet and Tom Brittney will have screen tests for the role of Superman next week.
Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor will also be duking it out for the role of Lois Lane — all three actresses are also testing next week.
Cronenswet would be my pick for Supes. He played the projectionist in “Pearl.” Tom Brittney could be good. However, I just can’t see Hoult getting this one, sorry, he just doesn’t fit the part.
All of this to say … Corenswet and Brosnahan, please. That’d be the dream duo.
DC Studios co-chief Gunn turned in a draft of “Superman: Legacy” more than three weeks ago, just days before the writers’ strike came into effect. The film is not expected to be affected by the WGA strike, according to The Wrap, but the SAG halt could potentially push production back.
Gunn wrote the script and will direct the film which is said to feature a younger version of Superman. Pre-production kicked off last month, with costumes and production design at the forefront.
“Superman: Legacy” will be released on July 11, 2025. It will be the first film released as part of Gunn’s newly established DCEU. Production is set to begin next January in Georgia.
