So, you’re Jude Law and about to play King Henry VIII in Karim Ainouz’s “Firebrand,” but you also want to go fully method in tackling this historical figure. What do you do?
There are accounts of people being able to smell King Henry VIII's stench from three rooms away, Law read about that and decided that he should also smell bad on the set of this movie.
At today’s “Firebrand” press conference, Law admitted that he wanted to "smell awful" while shooting the film, so he had a perfumer make a scent out of “puss, blood, fecal matter and sweat.”
I’ll leave at that. On a side note, “Firebrand” is not a good movie and has been getting panned by many at Cannes. So his efforts to get into character might not have been worth it.
