A few weeks after the first public screening of The Flash” at CinemaCon, where fanboys creamed their pants in unison, the film's Production Deigner is making a bold claim.
Paul Austerberry — who won an Oscar for his work on “The Shape of Water” — told CBR that Warner Bros’ decision to stick with Miller, after his never-ending legal troubles, was the right one.
Austerberry says that “The Flash” is so good that “people will forget that,” referring to Miller's controversial behavior. He added that Miller had, “a lot of pressure” during shooting of the film, claiming the actor only had three days off during the entire production.
“So, a lot of pressure,” Austerberry said of Miller.
The 30-year-old Miller has been arrested many times these past few months, his crime-spree included assault and burglary, felony and burglary, choking a woman at a bar, grooming children, punching multiple people and reportedly providing housing for a mother and three young children at an unlicensed cannabis farm.
Basically, Miller saw what Armie Hammer, James Franco, Gina Carano, Louis CK and Will Smith had committed and said “guys, hold my beer.”
Miller and his publicist blamed the crime spree on “complex mental health issues.” Gee, ya think?
Earlier this week, Warner Bros co-chairperson Mike DeLuca admitted that Miller may sit out promotional duties on “The Flash.” That means no interviews. Why? DeLuca claims because “The Flash” is “not a PR-driven film. So we don’t necessarily have to put Ezra out in front”.
Will Miller being a total whack job affect the way I perceive “The Flash”? Of course not. The controversy is just very amusing to me. It completely shatters people’s conception of “cancel culture.”
Miller has amassed enough misdeeds to forever be blacklisted from Hollywood, but it seems as though he’s un-cancellable. He’s put WB execs on some kind of voodoo spell to just roll with it.
“The Flash” is being released on June 16th.
