It’s not a Christopher Nolan movie without some special 70mm IMAX showings.
There has been confirmation that Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” will have 70mm screenings in July. The format is considered by many, and most importantly by Nolan, to the be the gold standard for cinematic image quality.
Seeing it in this format then is “as the director intended” in its purest sense. “Oppenheimer” is unique in that it was also the first film with black and white scenes to be shot on IMAX.
The 70mm confirmation also comes with another mention that the film is indeed 180 minutes. This would make it the longest film of Nolan’s career, beating “Interstellar” by 11 minutes.
