Two stars will reportedly play James Bond in the next 007 instalment. That’s what a report from The Sun claims — A pair of actors are said to be in talks to play younger and older versions of the spy.
One of them is supposedly Paul Mescal, who is now at the “top of the list” for producers to play the younger Bond.
Mescal, 27, is understood to be in talks to play the younger spy in the next flick, which will be the 26th in the franchise. Now, I don’t even know if this report is all hogwash or not, but one thing I do know is that I don’t want Mescal approaching this role.
Mescal has been hot stuff ever since his BBC drama, “Normal People”, and then he was in 2022’s acclaimed “Aftersun” which led to him getting cast as Lucius Verus in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel, due out in 2024.
Paul told Digital Spy in 2020: “Would I play Bond? Yeah? I don’t know. If it ever came my way, we’d discuss it.”
So, let’s add Mescal’s name to a long list of rumored actors for Bond. We’ve already covered the rampant rumors of Aaron Taylor-Johnson potentially being the next James Bond; he joins the likes of Henry Cavill, Regé Jean-Page, Tom Hardy, James Norton, Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
There’s been much speculation about Aaron Taylor-Johnson becoming the next 007, and it hasn’t really died down. No other actor has really had this much buzz in terms of Bond casting. You can read the Bond/Taylor-Johnson stories here, here, here, here and here.
It doesn’t help that in a recent interview with Esquire, Taylor-Johnson didn’t want to confirm nor deny that he’s the next Bond.
