I can back up Scott Menzel’s claim that, of the few critics who have so far seen Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” the response has been decidedly mixed.
This goes along well with the reactions that we gathered earlier this year, stemming from the three test screenings “Napoleon” had. Two reviews I posted from these screenings called it a “masterpiece,” but there were four other reactions that said it was a decidedly mixed bag.
“Napoleon” has screened for only a “handful of people,” according to Menzel, mostly those who have had interviews set with Ridley Scott and some of the other creatives behind the film. Otherwise, most critics, including myself, will be watching the film on November 14th.
The film is projected to open with around $24 million on its opening weekend. The theatrical release is set for Wednesday, November 22nd. No matter the early reactions, it’s very hard not to be excited by this film.
