In an interview with Brazilian outlet, “Poor Things” cinematographer Robbie Ryan confirms that Yorgos Lanthimos’ “AND,” starring Emma Stone, will be released in 2024.
"It's a very, very exciting movie. There are three stories and it is very different from “Poor Things”. Yorgos wrote this with Efthimis [Filippou], who also penned “The Killing of A Sacred Deer”. It's still Yorgos, but there's a different sensitivity to it.”
Also, according Ryan, the film was made while “Poor Things” was in the final stages of VFX adjustments. "The post-production took so long and, with COVID bringing down some projects, we had a window to shoot something. Yorgos said “I don't want to look at special effects every day, let's make another movie!'
Production on “AND” wrapped last December. Some on-set footage of Stone and Jesse Plemons leaked online that same month.
Plot details have been kept under wraps. However, Lanthimos mentioned the screenplay in a 2020 interview with Kelly Reichardt. It’s essentially an anthology film. The cast will include Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Jesse Plemons.
“AND” co-star Hong Chau was on a recent episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast where she revealed that the Lanthimos film consisted of three separate stories where each actor plays a different role in each story.
I mean, how great is that? Especially with that cast. All of the mentioned actors, except for Plemons, also starred in “Poor Things.”
