I wisely skipped every screening of “My Policeman” at TIFF. I’m utterly convinced that Harry Styles is a terrible actor and any movie he stars in will be ruined by presence.
Ever since I saw “Don’t Worry Darling” a few days ago, I just came to the conclusion that Styles cannot be taken seriously as an actor. There’s a forcefulness to his delivery that I don’t think can be fixed by acting coaches. Let’s just say, he peaked with “Dunkirk.”
Currently, “My Policeman” is at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews have mostly panned the film. Maybe it’ll go red on Metacritic.
“My Policeman” is the story of forbidden love, following three young people — policeman Tom (Harry Styles), teacher Marion (Emma Corrin), and museum curator Patrick (David Dawson) —- as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain. The film is based on the book by Bethan Roberts, and directed by Michael Grandage.
