I see Gold Derby and Awards Daily still have Helen Mirren in their Best Actress predictions, they should just scratch her off.
There were rumors that Guy Nattiv’s “Golda,” starring Mirren, might get released this year, but I’m hearing it will not be ready until 2023. IMDB has its production listed as “completed,” which, again, I’m told is wrong.
This biopic has Mirren playing former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir. Last year, there was a bit of controversy concerning Mirren’s casting. The English actress is not Jewish and some believed the lead role should have gone to a Jewish actress.
Written by Nicholas Martin (Florence Foster Jenkins), “Golda” is a thriller that chronicles the high-stake responsibilities and controversial decisions that Meir faced during the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
