Last week, I posted a capsule review of Sara Dosa’s “Fire of Love”. It’s one of the most visually astonishing docs I have seen in quite sometime.
Dosa’s documentary originally premiered at Sundance in January to raves. Now it’s being released on Friday. Plenty of reviews are trickling in; An 88 on Metacritic, and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 80 reviews).
What we have here is our current frontrunner for the 2023 Best Documentary Oscar. Nothing else comes close to the traction it’s been getting. I hope people watch this one on the big screen as the volcano imagery is absolutely stunning.
The other contenders to look out for this year include, “Aftershock”, “All That Breathes”, “Bad Axe”, “Bitterbrush,” “Descendant, “Last Journey Home,” “Moonage Daydream” “Navalny,” and “The Territory”.
