A swath of people who attended the BAFTA Awards in London last Sunday have tested positive for COVID. Many are now question marks to attend the Oscars.
“Belfast” director Kenneth Branagh, star Ciaran Hinds, and at least one movie exec have all fallen ill. Branagh couldn’t even attend last night’s PGA Awards in Hollywood because of it.
There are other “infected” Oscar nominees who are now potentially not going to be there. This bodes very well for next Sunday’s maskless ceremony. A show that was already destined to be disastrous could get even worse by the looks of it.
At this point, either you learn to live with the virus and stop the relentless testing or you continue to zero in on every case and have major events disrupted by COVID. You can’t really have both. Right now we’re stuck between both possible scenarios, in a sort of limbo.
