Principal photography on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” began in January 2020, but was suspended on March 14th due to the COVID shutdown. Filming eventually resumed on September 3, only to be put on pause again after Robert Pattinson (who plays Batman) tested positive for COVID-19. Filming was finally completed on March 13th, 2021 more than a fully year after it began.
Oh, and there were reshoots last month as well.
Unsurprisingly, “The Batman” has had its release date go from its original December 2020 launch to June 25, 2021 and now to March 4, 2022 ( which would 27 months after production began on the film).
Reeves’ movie was test screened at the Warner Bros studio lot on Friday and rumors are now pointing towards a 3-hour runtime for “The Batman.” Of course, this could just be a very rough cut, and no other details have been leaked about the screening, but the runtime does hint at a very ambitious portrait of the “Dark Knight.”
Here’s a reaction: “The Batman movie is a horror movie. Very graphic, very dark, very scary. Paul Dano is f*cking crazy, so fucking scary I loved every second. Robert Pattinson’s Batman voice was perfect. I have a million things to say about Catwoman, she’s my favorite part of the movie. :There’s a scene at the end that literally had everyone SCREAMING, everyone gasped.. like it was a big NO WAY for everyone… I don’t give a damn about Batman or DC and even I clenched on to a knee and was shook. It’s the biggest mic drop.”
RBatz aside, “The Batman” cast also includes Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle aka The Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin.
