Ah, yes, nostalgia! A Clueless TV series with Alicia Silverstone attached to star and executive produce has landed at Peacock.
The sequel is written and executive produced by the “Gossip Girl” duo of Josh Shwartz and Stephanie Savage of “Fake Empire” and “Dollface” creator Jordan Weiss.
Silverstone is set to reprise her signature role as Cher, made iconic in Amy Heckerling’s “Clueless,” released in 1995. That film left a lasting legacy as a cultural touchstone that redefined teen comedies and influenced fashion, and language.
Loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma, the film cleverly translated classic themes into a vibrant, satirical portrait of 1990s Beverly Hills youth. Its sharp script, led by Heckerling’s direction and Alicia Silverstone’s performance, inspired a wave of teen-centered films that followed.
