At this point, it doesn’t even matter if you liked “Spider-Man: No Way Home;” the fact that its performance at the box-office is like that of a pre-pandemic movie is something of a miracle.
Spidey took in another $20 million domestically on Wednesday, which makes its total receipts close to $536 million. It passed “Rogue One” ($532M) and “The Dark Knight” ($533M) and it is now the 12th highest grossing film of all-time in the U.S.
‘No Way Home’ is set to crack the all-time top 10 by Sunday. Projections are making it look like it'll end its run at #4 on the domestic list — it would have to beat Avatar’s $760 million intake to crack the top 3. With the worst of Omicron about to hit the U.S. in a few weeks, it’ll be very hard to surpass that amount.
Regardless, for this film to be released during very anxious times for many in the country and to be as successful as it actually had been means that moviegoing still has a pulse and is still a relevant part of our culture.
