The United States and France are, and have always been, the Mecca’s of world cinema. This year, the Cesars, the French equivalent of the Oscars, seem to have an abundance of riches to choose from.
Filmmakers such as Carax, Desplechin, Audiard, Ducournau, Verehoven, Sciamma and Dumont will be vying for award at the Cesars. This historic year for French cinema was culminated with two French films (“Titane” and “Happening”) winning the top prize at Cannes and Venice.
