Paul Thomas Anderson has found the star of his next film and it’s none other than eight-time Oscar-nominated actor Bradley Cooper.
According to THR, Cooper is in talks to star in the new untitled film written and directed by PTA. As we’ve mentioned in past articles, the latest, and highly-secretive, film from the director takes place in Southern California during the 1970s and follows a kid actor’s teen years attending high school in the San Fernando Valley.
The THR report states that Anderson’s latest was supposed to begin production in spring/summer of this year, but COVID-19 delayed all that. Now, a fall shoot is in the works, but only if it’s okay for filming to commence in Los Angeles. Maybe PTA can bring the film to Cannes in May of 2021, wouldn’t that be something? The scheduling aligns quite well with this happening. PTA hasn’t had one of his movies premiere at Cannes since “Punch-Drunk Love,” back in 2002.
As for Cooper, the 45-year-old actor has been one of the most consistently efficient actors of the last 15 or so years. His filmography has had its fair share of ups and downs but it’s his work with director David O. Russell (“American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Joy”) that has always brought out the best in Cooper.
