It was a foregone conclusion that theaters such as AMC, Regal, Landmark, Alamo Drafthouse, and, really, the vast majority of other theaters in the US, would be shutting down their doors for, God knows how long, anywhere between 8-20 weeks? It was only a matter of time before major theatrical releases would have to follow suit and delay their upcoming blockbusters.
According to Variety, Disney has decided to delay the release of Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” from its May 1st release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since there is currently no new date, we will have to call this delay “indefinite.”
With “F9” and “Black Widow” now vacated from the summer movie season, I presume Disney’s own “Artemis Fowl” (May 29) is next, not to mention Warner Bros.’ “Wonder Woman 1984” (June 5).
Fun times.
