The WGA Awards revealed their winners this morning and, suffice to say, they are very surprising. Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” took the Original Screenplay honor while Taika Watiti took the Adapted Screenplay Award for “Jojo Rabbit.” Go figure. Then again, potential Oscar winner “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” by Quentin Tarantino was ineligible for the WGA. Waititi winning means that it won over Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women,” Steven Zaillian’s “The Irishman” and Todd Phillips and Scott Silver’s “Joker.” Gerwig’s screenplay was supposed to be the frontrunner in this category, but it seems as though it is no longer the frontrunner in this category come Oscar night, February 9th.
