Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria” was a perplexing mix of arthouse and horror which divided critics and audiences alike. A 150 minute dive into the abyss of the unknown. I found it to be a fascinating mess of a film, one which never really found its groove but proved that Guadagnino could stage dread to the nth degree.
However, just when you thought the Italian filmmaker would go back to his Italian-summer cinematic roots of yore, the director of “Call Me By Your Name,” “I Am Love,” and “A Bigger Splash” has decided to throw us yet another curveball by confirming that he is currently in talks to direct an adaptation of …. “Lord of the Flies”?
According to Variety, Warner Bros. wants Guadagnino to adapt the famous novel. There’s no script yet, as we speak, but it seems as though Gudagnino is all but confirmed for this project. Reading between the lines in the Variety piece, the film will retain its original story and focus on kids from an all-boys school.
