I do wonder how this R-Batz backlash, stemming mostly from DCEU fans, will unfold once, ya know, Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” is actually released. The trailer will no doubt be a good indicator as to how this risky bit of casting will be met. Once first footage is shown (probably next year) Pattinson’s take on Bruce Wayne/The Caped Crusader will be miscroscoped to no ends by megafans I honestly don’t have a stake here. I used to be a huge Batman fan as a young tyke, but I’ve overgrown it, even my love for Tim Burton’s Batman movies have subsided a bit. I couldn’t care less about the Snyder flicks. Alas, I do still want a great Batman movie. The Caped Crusader is clearly the superhero with the most cinematic potential, the already mentioned Burton movies and, of course, Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, the apex of the superhero genre, have proven that. Reeves also impressed me with that last ‘Apes’ movie. I don’t know, I have a good feeling about the direction this film is headed into … Back to Pattinson, I was convinced by his acting talents after seeing his turn in the Safdies’ “Good Time” at Cannes two years ago. He was entirely believable as the lead scumbag in that film. There were barely any redeeming qualities to that character, but he pulled it off. A great performance. His next movie is Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet.” You would think he’d probably get a tip or two from Nolan, given his ‘Dark Knight’ experience et all…
