It’s been exactly a week since Green Book won the Best Picture Oscar, in addition to Best Original Screenplay and a Best Supporting Actor trophy for Mahershala Ali, and the film is having a resurgence at the box-office.
Peter Farrelly’s movie made $4.7 million this past weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. That’s a 121.4% boost from when it placed #11 last week. A big reason for this success is due to its expansion to 1,388 extra screens, taking full advantage of the attention it just got at the Oscars.
The film should also celebrate the fact that, according to Deadline, it made $17.1 million in China this weekend. This makes it the second highest-grossing Best Picture winner over there since “Titanic,” over two decades ago.
“Green Book” has made $75,920,611 at the domestic box office and $112,100,000 at the foreign box office. Its budget was reportedly $23 million.
Spike Lee must be ecstatic.
