According to a new report from THR, Martin Scorsese doesn’t just want a “select” theatrical run for his upcoming “The Irishman,” no sirree bobby, the legendary director wants his mobster saga to get a full wide theatrical release treatment and it seems like Netflix are actually listening to his advice.
“The Irishman” has a budget of $125 million, but the buzz is deafening for this upcoming movie which reunites Scorsese with his “Raging Bull,” “Goodfellas,” and “Casino” stars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
However, Netflix has other intriguing titles that could compete for awards this year: Steven Soderbergh’s “The Laundromat,” David Michôd’s “The King,” Dee Rees‘ “The Last Thing He Wanted,” and Fernando Meirelles‘ The Pope.”
The sheer quality of the talents the streaming giant has acquired should sound the panic alarm back over in Hollywood
