Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” is revving up its engines for a scheduled-to-begin early 2020 production date. We already know that Robert Pattinson is set to play the caped crusader, following in the footsteps of Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and Michael Keaton.
Already added to the casting were stalwart actors (above) but now THR is reporting that John Turturro, one of the great character actors of our time, has been cast as Gotham gangster Carmine Falcone.
Turturro’s career as a character actor is astounding (Quiz Show, Barton Fink, The Night Of, Do the Right Thing, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Miller’s Crossing), he will no doubt bring a lot of dimension to “The Batman,” a film which already has a stacked cast of talented artists at its helm. Reeves’ assembled actors and actresses for “The Batman” will be led by Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Zoe Kravitz is set to play Catwoman, Paul Dano is playing Riddler and Colin Farrell will be the Penguin. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Wright will play Gotham’s Commissioner Gordon, while Andy Serkis is appearing as Wayne’s butler, Alfred.
“The Batman” will be released on June 25, 2021.
