According to a new interview with Empire magazine (via ScreenRant), it would appear that Martin Scorsese is not a fan of Marvel movies, like at all.
When asked about his thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the legendary filmmaker decided to not hold back:
“I don’t see them,” revealed Scorsese. “I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”
Are we surprised by these sentiments from Mr. Scorsese? Of course not, but it does look as though Marvel fans won’t be getting a Scorsese-directed Marvel film any time soon. That’s all fine and dandy because the legendary filmmaker is about to release his Netflix-distributed masterpiece, “The Irishman,” on November 1st and is already working on his next movie, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. It does feel better being on this side of the aisle as a movie fan.
