Peter Berg's films have been, just like Clint Eastwood's of late, very much attuned to the conservative part of America. You know, blue-collar, middle class heroes on duty, to serve and protect the great nation of the U.S. of A. "American Sniper" was a perfect Eastwood example, Berg's "Lone Survivor" went along those lines as well. I dug both those films quite a bit. Of course,there was a whole Left vs Right debate to them, about the heroic merits of the title characters.
A film slightly adhering to the right is, in my books, not a problem and, in fact, very welcome, but what Peter Berg is attempting with "Mile 22" (Berg and Mark Whalberg's fourth movie together) is rather unique because it seems to stray away from the political and more into pure genre action filmmaking.
It doesn't look terribly exciting but you never know. Because Berg directed "Lone Survivor," and "Patriots Day" he is fine in my books.
