"Miss Peregrine" gets top spot at the weekend Box-Office, "Sully" cracks the $100 million dollar mark and "Masterminds" chokes

Almost official. Tim Burton's adaptation of Ransom Riggs' popular novel is set to debut at number one with an estimated $28 million. Peter Berg's "Deepwater Horizon" finished a solid second with $22 million, a successful debut considering it isn't based on a popular book, nor is it a sequel or a remake of a popular source material. If the fall movie season has proven anything so far it's that people are still hungry for serious, adult films such as "Horizon" and Clint Eastwood's very successful "Sully," which cracked the $100 million dollar mark this weekend and solidified its standing as a serious Oscar contender. "Masterminds," which has been delayed for over a year faltered with just $6 million in its first week.
