After nabbing a slew of Oscar nominations, A24 has decided to re-release the absurdist comedy-drama “Everything Everywhere All at Once” in theaters this weekend.
The Twitter account maintained by filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert wrote, “SURPRISE! Everything Everywhere All At Once is back in theaters this weekend. Over 1K screens!?”
Kwan personally wrote:
EEAAO is going to be back in 1400 theaters nationwide tomorrow. To all of the people who: -regret missing it in theaters -fell asleep watching it on an airplane -accidentally left at “THE END” -want to hate-watch the film Cats style with your friends now is your chance!
Yes, it’s actually going to screen in 1400 theaters nationwide. That’s impressive. One wonders if the American mainstream will go out and see this film which was already an indie hit having grossed $70 million domestically, per Box Office Mojo.
Despite its original May release, there are still plenty of moviegoers who have yet to experience EEAO. It has been available on-demand for a while, but this is still very much a smaller-budgeted film, at least when compared to most of the other Best Picture nominees such as “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
