Chaos at the DCEU: Jared Leto’s Joker Movies Cancelled at DC Films

February 14, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Jared Leto‘s short-lived time as the Joker is nearing its end, according to Forbes.

James Gunn’s upcoming “Suicide Squad” is rumored to not have Jared Leto’s Joker. Not just that, the unofficially tilted ‘Mad Love’-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also been cancelled, again according to Forbes. That film looked promising considering Glenn Ficarra and John Requa were the writer/directing team behind it.

Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” will be keeping Will Smith and Jai Courtney, but no one else, including Harley Quinn. Call it a soft-rebooting, with most of the old squad nixed.

The Leto Joker spin-off movie not happening is unsurprising, especially considering that Todd Phillips‘ “The Joker” with Joaquin Phoenix will be released this October and hype surrounding it couldn’t be higher than it is.

The DCEU is in the midst of major change, Henry Cavill is done as Superman. Ben Affleck is certainly done as Batman. The whole thing is a charade, with plenty of questions left unanswered. There doesn’t seem to be a clear path in what they want as an organization, this is what we like to call a shitshow, my friends.

The trailer for “Avengers: Endgame” was released yesterday, but don't go to www.AvengersEndgame.com because it'll automatically re-route you to 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” movie page.

Jason Momoa on ‘Justice League' Snyder Cut: “F*ck, Yeah I Want to See It”

December 8, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

Joss Whedon‘s extensive reshoots on “Justice League” no doubt clashed with Zack Snyder‘s original vision. Among the changes, Jesse Eisenberg‘s return as Lex Luthor was reportedly axed, and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman is said to have received more scenes and screentime. It’s not just the characters, the overall mood was rumored to get a lighter makeover with Whedon deviating away from Snyder’s darker palettes for a more colorful tone. “Justice League,” in short, was the mix of two visions and you could see that while watching the film. Sure there’s Zack Snyder’s use of ultra slow-mo, the dark interiors and exteriors he so loves to use, and his penchant for the camera zooming in and out of action sequences, but Whedon crashed the party by pulling back on some of that, so much so that as you’re watching the movie you can tell exactly who shot what. The work of these two titan directors that couldn’t be more different, resulted in the “Justice League” that we got.

Why I don't like *most* Superhero movies

November 27, 2018 Jordan Ruimy
mcu-get-right-dceu-gets-wrong-AT-750x430.jpg

I haven't re-watched "Black Panther" lately, but it's not even the best Marvel movie of the year. I'm writing this in complete shock having just heard the news that Arthouse Convergence is getting involved in pushing 'Panther' for Oscars? Am I dreaming this? A $700 million Disney movie having to turn to arthouses for support.

Early ‘Aquaman' Reactions Hint That it Could be ‘Best DCEU Movie'

November 26, 2018 Jordan Ruimy
aquaman-classic-costume-jason-momoa.jpg

Jason Momoa as “Aquaman” is actually happening. It feels like this film has been in post-production hell for ages. Yes, the film is being released in a few weeks (three to be precise) unless, of course, the WB decides to be masochists that they are and move up the release yet again.

REPORT: Matt Reeves Doesn't Want Ben Affleck for his Upcoming ‘The Batman’

October 31, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

Another day, another “Batman” rumor which always seems to contradict the last report. And it’s the same kind of back and forth pendulum-swinging story. Gossip and hearsay have swirled for months on whether or not Ben Affleck will be staying on as Batman in the DCEU.

The release date of Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman 1984" has been delayed by seven months. In an Instagram post, star Gal Gadot revealed that the much-anticipated sequel will now hit theaters in the summer of 2020 rather than the original release date which was slated for November of next year: “Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home,” she wrote. “June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!"

Dave Bautista Wants to Be Part of James Gunn’s ‘Suicide Squad 2’

October 10, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

I have to commend Dave Bautista for continuously pushing Disney to reinstate recently fired 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn. His passion and persistence says a lot about the loyalty this man feels for his director.

With the news breaking yesterday that James Gunn was going to write and possibly direct 'Suicide Squad 2' Bautista was at it again on Twitter, wondering how he could partake in the upcoming film:

“Where do I sign up!” the actor simply stated in a tweet.

The trolling against Disney continues. Touché Mr. Bautista.

Fan petitions Grow for Jon Hamm to be Cast as Next Batman, Kevin Smith Says it Would be "Brilliant Idea"

September 24, 2018 Jordan Ruimy
Jon Hamm, Batman

In a recent episode of Kevin Smith's Fatman Beyond podcast, the well-known writer-director, and uber-superhero enthusiast, stated that Jon Hamm needs to be cast as the next Batman in director Matt Reeves' upcoming DC reboot.

"I roll deep on Jon Hamm as Batman," Smith said. "I think that's a brilliant idea, I've been saying it for f*cking years, I've been saying it even when they cast Ben I was like 'look, he's great and yeah, he'll do a great job' but f*ck Jon Hamm was right there and stuff."
