Since Netflix refuses to release its data, we can only guess what are the most-watched shows on the streaming service. Ditto most of its other competitors such as Hulu and Amazon Prime. And so, whenever a Parrot Analytics proprietary comes out with its own data and estimates, attention must be paid because, quite frankly, it's the only source we have. However, here's a surprise: a "Demand Expressions" metric shows that the Netflix hit "Stranger Things" was the most watched series on streaming in the last 90 days. The show is proving to be a monster. [via IndieWire].
Not too far behind "Stranger Things" in the rankings are: "Orange is the New Black," "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch," and "Marvel's Daredevil."
These data are composed of the top 10 digital originals over the past 90 days in the United States (Aug. 10 to Nov. 7, 2018). The sustained level of popularity of "Stranger Things" is suprising since there has been no new episode of the Duffer brothers created series since last year. Parrot marketing vice president Samuel Stadler had this to say about the findings:
“It’s a special show, and the passion seems to be heightened,” Stadler said. “It seems that particular show has staying power beyond anything. There hasn’t been a show that comes anywhere close to it."
