Robert Redford spoke to Variety at the premiere of his upcoming film “The Old Man & the Gun,” a film we all thought would be his final film. Redford even said he was retiring back in August.
“That was a mistake. I should never have said that” Redford told Variety on Thursday. “If I’m going to retire, I should just slip quietly away from acting, but I shouldn’t be talking about it because I think it draws too much attention in the wrong way. I want to be focused on this film and the cast” Redford added. When then asked to elaborate, the 82-year-old actor responded: “I’m not answering that. Keep the mystery alive.”
The rave reviews for "Old Man and the Gun" all made mention of the film's theme of hanging it up, retiring from a life's passion. It was a decent way for Redford to go, but it seems like the itch is still there.
