M. Night Shyamalan’s “Knock at the Cabin” has dethroned James Cameron at the box-office this weekend, it made a lukewarm $14.2 million, becoming the first film to unseat “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
The ‘Avatar’ sequel had an impressive seven week run at #1. Whereas Shyamalan’s movie was originally projected to make over $20 million but didn’t come close to achieving that figure this weekend.
Shyamalan’s film has a budget of $20 million and will most likely break even and then some in the coming weeks. This marks Shyamalan’s seventh film to open at the top of the box-office. The film has become divisive since its release with critics and audiences alike, that probably played a part in its weak weekend performance.
