I don’t care if you loved “RRR” or hated it, but today’s news that the film’s centerpiece song “Naatu Naatu” will be performed at the Oscars is welcome news.
The real question is whether there will be any sort of dance number performed. There’s no doubt that the energy from this song comes from the dancing. They wouldn't be able to mimick the movie, obviously, since director SS Rajamouli sped up the frame to make it look even more wild, but hopefully some sort of adaptation of it will happen.
What the upcoming March 12th ceremony needed is life, some kind of heartbeat, and this should do the trick for about 3 minutes of telecast time. But what about the other 180 minutes? How will they manage to not make the ceremony as strenuously dull as past editions? We’ll see, but I hope they have some more surprises up their sleeves.
