There are some interesting developments when it comes to the the Adam Driver-starring “65.”
The movie is being released on March 10th, less than three weeks from now, but Sony had a test-screening of it just last week. Here’s the kicker: two versions of the movie, in two auditoriums, were shown.
The film is currently listed as being 87 minutes, but that could change. I was actually looking forward to this movie, the same way I can’t wait to see “Cocaine Bear” on Tuesday.
“65” seems to be going the B-movie route with this actioneer. Driver fighting dinosaurs is an easy sell for me — of course, I’m interested! It looks cheesy. It looks ridiculous. Who cares? Just be happy we have a dinosaur movie that doesn’t star Chris Pratt.
Here’s the official synopsis:
After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills (Adam Driver) quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth…65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive.
“65” was shot in 2020 and actually got test-screened in 2021. Reactions were all over the place at the time, some liked it and some hated it. The budget is listed as being around $91 million. Regardless, it should be a fun side project for Driver before “Ferrari” and ”Megalopolis” arrive.
The film has been written, directed, and produced by “A Quiet Place” screenwriters Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (that’s a good thing!) and produced by Sam Raimi.
