I thought Trey Edward Schults’ 2015 debut “Krisha” was a total masterpiece. If you haven’t checked It out, it’s absolutely worth a look.
That movie alone made me excited for whatever Schults would do next, and although I didn’t think his subsequent films, “It Came At Night” and “Waves,” were as accomplished as “Krisha” they definitely sold me on the idea that this guy could eventually be the next big thing in American moviemaking.
Deadline is reporting that Schults’ next film will be written by himself and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd (yes, the musician). Tesfaye will also lead a cast that includes Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan (him again!).
Plot details for the film are currently under wraps, but the project has already begun production. I’m guessing A24 will produce this one since they were behind Schults’ other three films.
