Some big news out of CinemaCon: Warner Bros. has launched an indie label, Warner Bros. Clockwork, and Sean Baker is set to direct its debut film, “Ti Amo!”, which is now slated for a 2027 release. A summer production start is expected.
What a great filmmaker to kick off an indie label with. “Ti Amo!” must be the film Baker recently hinted was set in Italy and an ode to ’60s and ’70s Italian sex comedies. It apparently has Italian actress Vera Gemma as part of the cast, who is best known for her performance in “Vera” and for her acclaimed turn in “Scarlet Flower.”
So, we’re getting another Sean Baker film very soon. Baker’s last film was “Anora,” which won the Palme d’Or and went on to win the best picture Oscar. That success built on a long run of critically acclaimed films, including “Tangerine,” “The Florida Project,” and “Red Rocket,” each further cementing his reputation for gutter poetry.
