Paramount’s “Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender” isn’t supposed to come out until October 9, but it has apparently already leaked online. Paramount has yet to comment on the situation.
On Saturday, a user on X claimed they were “accidentally” sent the entire animated film via email. Their proof was posting two clips from the film itself. This was no accident. All signs are pointing to a hack. Many who have seen the footage believe it to be legitimate. Both clips are still up, having racked up millions of eyeballs.
Last December, Paramount infuriated ‘Avatar’ fans by announcing that ‘Legend of Aang,’ which had been greenlit by the previous administration, would not be getting a theatrical release. Rather, studio chief David Ellison was sending it straight to Paramount+ in the fall of 2026.
The creatives behind ‘Legend of Aang’ have been working on the movie since 2020, and the filmmakers were under the impression the entire time that it would be getting an actual theatrical release. The film even received a much-buzzed-about sneak peek at CinemaCon in 2023.
