‘Scary Movie 6’ Will Spoof ‘Weapons,’ ‘Get Out,’ ‘Sinners,’ ‘Longlegs,’ ‘A Quiet Place,’ and More

February 23, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

We haven’t had a “Scary Movie” instalment since 2013, but the horror parody franchise is coming back. Miramax greenlit a new sequel in April 2025 and now plans to release it in theaters on June 12, 2026.

Keeping things in the family, the Wayans Brothers—who helped launch the franchise—are returning to helm the project, and Marlon Wayans recently teased which horror films might get lampooned this time around: “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the “Scream” franchise, “Heretic,” “Longlegs,” “Get Out,” “Nope,” and “Sinners.”

Another report, via Dread Central, now has “Scary Movie 6” also parodying “A Quiet Place,” “Terrifier 3,” and “Weapons.”

The Wayans, who are writing the screenplay with Rick Alvarez (“A Haunted House,” “Fifty Shades of Black,” “Scary Movie 2”), will have returning stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprising their roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks. The rest of the cast includes Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott and Jon Abrahams,

The first five instalments in the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise grossed close to $900M worldwide. The two recurrent actresses in these films were Farris and King. The Wayans left the franchise by the third film, with writers such as Craig Mazin and David Zucker taking over screenwriting duties.

The Wayans were ready to come back for ‘Scary Movie 3,’ but Marlon confirmed that they felt insulted when producers offered them the same "crappy" deal they'd gotten for the first two movies. In reference to the sexual assault allegations that led to Harvey Weinstein’s legal demise, Wayans suggested he and his brothers were also "molested in them deals."

“Scary Movie 6” is set for June 12, 2026 theatrical release via Paramount.
