After ‘My Old Ass,’ Megan Park Sparks Multi-Studio Bidding War for Next Film ‘Die Alive’ — Apple Nabs U.S. Rights

April 1, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Apple Original Films has won a bidding war for “My Old Ass" writer-director Megan Park's next film, "Die Alive," Page Six Hollywood has learned.

EARLIER: An old-school Hollywood bidding war has erupted over “Die Alive,” a spec script written by and set to be directed by filmmaker Megan Park, with major studios and streamers—including Warner Bros., Sony, Universal, Apple, Amazon, and Netflix—vying for it despite no stars being attached.

Insiders who gave the script a read have called it “legit funny,” a comedy-drama compared to “Big Daddy” and “Stepmom” that follows a woman who discovers her older boyfriend has a wife and kids and is unexpectedly pulled into caring for them.

While no frontrunner buyer has emerged, the project is already independently financed and greenlit by FilmNation for a summer/fall 2026 shoot, ensuring it will be made regardless. Now they just need to cast the damn thing.

Much of the excitement around “Die Alive” traces back to Park’s breakout success with “My Old Ass,” the coming-of-age comedy that established her as a filmmaker to watch.

Premiering at Sundance in 2024, “My Old Ass”—starring Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella and built around a surreal, mushroom-fueled encounter with her older self—earned strong reviews and became a hit on Prime Video, which led to Park nabbing a DGA nomination for outstanding first-time theatrical feature, along with WGA and Indie Spirit Award nominations for screenplay.

All of this momentum is a major reason buyers now see Park herself as a potential draw. We’ll see how “Die Alive” turns out for her, but given all the interested buyers, the script must be good.
