Cannes Late Additions Might Include Bi Gan, Eugene Jarecki, and Akoka/Gueret

May 6, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

I keep getting messages about late additions to Cannes. Most of the attention is on Bi Gan’s “Resurrection,” which already appears to have a page on Cannes’ official site. Done deal? Who knows. The film is currently scheduled for a world premiere on May 22, with a runtime of around 150 minutes, but those pesky Chinese censors have the final say on this one. If I had to bet, I’d say this will end up being a late addition.

One film that’s definitely going to be added is Eugene Jarecki’s “The Six Billion Dollar Man,” which is set to screen in the Special Screenings section. If you remember, it was supposed to have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival before being pulled—without any explanation—at the last minute. Cannes probably snatched that one away from Sundance.

Another film that will most likely be added is Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret’s “Ma Frère,” which is expected to screen in Cannes Premiere. Then there’s a “surprise” new film from Raphael Quenard, which will either play in Cannes Premiere or Special Screenings—I’m not entirely sure yet.

Regardless, we’re all waiting for the official announcement, which could come today or tomorrow. That’s about as much as we know for now, since the schedule is supposed to be released tomorrow.
