Ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 2, EW has confirmed that acclaimed composer Alexandre Desplat, a two-time Oscar winner, will be crafting the score for “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
Taking on the legacy of John Williams, whose iconic score for the original 1993 “Jurassic Park” remains one of the most recognizable in film history. Desplat says he aimed to weave in subtle references to Williams' original themes while developing new musical ideas that align with director Gareth Edwards’ vision for ‘Rebirth.’
The story picks up after “Jurassic World Dominion” (2022), following operations lead Zora Bennett (played by Scarlett Johansson) as she leads a mission to a dangerous, dinosaur-filled island on behalf of a pharmaceutical company. Along the way, the team—also featuring Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey—encounters the stranded Delgado family, survivors of a deadly marine dinosaur attack.
Some of Desplat’s best-known works include the music for “Birth,” “The Tree of Life,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and “The Shape of Water.” He’s also composed the score for two marquee films coming out this year, Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme”; The latter will be his seventh collaboration with Anderson.
