We have a teaser for Zach Cregger’s “Weapons.” It’s just 45 seconds, but we’ll take it, as Warner Bros. seems to be taking the long road when it comes to marketing this one. I don’t think we’ll be getting a full-fledged trailer for a little while. Warners is clearly taking a page out of Neon’s efficient “Longlegs” marketing from just a year ago.
The cryptic footage shown, and the dialogue that plays over it, plot tackles the disappearance of children in a small town; they all wake up in the middle of the night and walk out of their homes, not to be seen again. Everyone is bewildered. The rest of the film will be told from the perspective of multiple characters: teachers, detectives, and families.
The ensemble cast for “Weapons” includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Austin Abrams, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, and June Diane Raphael. Warner Bros has set up an August 8, 2025 release date.
