I wrote at Cannes 2024 that Paolo Sorrentino had, sadly, nothing new to say in “Parthenope,” his latest film which is finally being released this month via A24.
Sorrentino was coming off 2021’s “The Hand of God,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice and was nominated for the Best International Film Oscar. Other notable works in his filmography include “The Great Beauty” and “Il Divo.”
Whatever his next film might be, Sorrentino confirms (via Entertainment Weekly) that it won’t be any of his two projects which were supposed to star Jennifer Lawrence (“Sue” and Mob Girl”). The Italian filmmaker says they’re both dead.
Meanwhile, Lawrence has been keeping busy. She will next be seen in Lynne Ramsay’s “Die, My Love,” and recently boarded A24’s “Why Don’t You Love Me?” She was also supposed to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s “Sinatra,” but we’re not entirely sure what’s going on with that one.
