Lynne Ramsay’s “Die, My Love,” starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Lawrence and LaKeith Stanfield, will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Actor Marcus Della Rosa, who is part of the cast in Ramsay’s film, confirmed the news to a Spanish outlet over the weekend. No word yet on whether the film will be competing for the Palme d’Or, but judging by Ramsay’s recent history at Cannes, it probably will be in competition.
“Die, My Love” is being described as a “psychological thriller.” Ramsay co-wrote the script with Enda Walsh. The film, an adaptation of a novel by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz, is a stark tale set in rural France of a woman driven to the brink of insanity by marriage and motherhood. Martin Scorsese produced the film.
“Die, My Love” is set to be Ramsay’s first film in over 7 years. In fact, she’s only directed four films during the course of her 24-year career: “Ratcatcher,” “Morvern Callar,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin” and “You Were Never Really Here.” All bangers.
