The first major tentpole for 2025 will be released next month and early tracking indicates Marvel Studios might be in the clear when it comes to this one. Of course, it’s way too early, but hopeful signs have emerged.
A Deadline report has Julius Onah’s “Captain America: Brave New World” looking at an $86M three-day opening weekend beginning on Friday, February 14. Not peak MCU numbers, but if this does come to fruition then it’ll be met with a huge sigh of relief from Marvel/Disney.
Now, reviews might determine the film’s actual fate. That’s usually how it goes these days with MCU movies. Audiences are more wary about spending their hard earned money on these countless Marvel instalments, and it’s only fair that whether it becomes a hit will depend on word of mouth.
‘Brave New World,’ which wrapped filming in June 2023, and was originally set for a July 2024 release, has been plagued by reshoots, and rewrites. The budget is said to be well over $300M, and that might have to do with a good chunk of the film having to be reshot last summer due to Marvel notes.
