Today is the day Jeremy Saulnier’s “Rebel Ridge,” a nifty thriller, starts streaming on Netflix. Saulnier must be relieved that reviews have been very positive for his much-delayed film, which had originally started production in 2021.
As you can imagine, Saulnier can finally leave “Rebel Ridge” behind, forget about all the drama that happened these last few years, and focus on his next film. The filmmaker spoke with The Playlist about what’s he’s working on next.
“I’m currently writing something that’s a little more in the “Green Room” universe. Because with “Rebel Ridge,” I was exploring a new side. I was just tired of everything I do being oppressive. But I’ve kinda gone back. It has to do with music and Halloween and fun shit.”
Sounds interesting. A return to the world of “Green Room” is perfectly fine by me. Adding “Halloween” and “music” elements means that we’re maybe looking at a horror film here. Regardless, you have a duty to now stream “Rebel Ridge,” which is as hard hitting and visceral an action film as any that I’ve seen so far this year.
