Looks like Mike Judge’s long-gestating “Automatic Trucking” is finally about to enter production. According to Production List, a November shoot is being eyed for the film.
Judge is teaming up with his “Sillicon Valley” partner Alec Berg for this next project. Picturestart is financing and will produce “Automated Trucking,” a comedy feature based on an original idea by the duo . Judge will direct with Rob Turbovsky and Matteo Borghese are writing the script.
Automated Trucking follows a young engineer who pitches a fully automated trucking system to one of Silicon Valley’s most successful billionaires and must prove the technology’s viability by driving cross country with a real trucker to present his breakthrough at the International Truckers expo.
We need some casting details for this one. If nothing comes out in the next few weeks then that November production date will likely get delayed further on to next year. Hopefully that’s not the case, Judge hasn’t directed a feature since 2009 — it’s time for a new one.
Judge is the creator behind “Beavis and Butt-Head,” “King of the Hill” and “Silicon Valley.” He also wrote and directed “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America,” “Office Space,” “Idiocracy,” and “Extract.”
