We’ve now had three ‘Creed’ movies, a boxing world initially built up by Ryan Coogler in 2015 (by far the best of the three), and although Sylvester Stallone was part of the first two films, he was notably absent in the last one and will probably not be back for any future instalments.
Five years ago, Stallone mentioned that he’d finally hung up his gloves, with “Creed II” serving as his final performance as Rocky Balboa. However, that does not technically mean that he’s done with the Rocky character.
In a new interview with Stephen Olexy, Stallone reveals that he’s writing a “Rocky” prequel: “Seeing Adrian at 15, Rocky at 17… it’s almost like ‘Lady and The Tramp’ but with real people”
Rocky has aged. He's lost everyone that's important in his life. He has no place in the ‘Creed’ franchise. So, what else to do but to make a prequel, and that’s exactly what Stallone, 78, seems to be doing now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up directing it as well.
